Volleyball Recap: Liberty Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. Liberty Christian Academy fell just short of Westwood Baptist Academy by a score of 3-2. While Liberty Christian Academy didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Westwood Baptist Academy 25-19 in the first set.

Liberty Christian Academy took Westwood Baptist Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-17, 16-25, 25-19, 15-8.

Caroline Keller paced Liberty Christian Academy's offense, picking up 15 kills. Keller got some help from Trina Scheltens and her 28 assists. Marielle Moss controlled things from the service line, finishing with nine aces.

Liberty Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season.

Liberty Christian Academy will take on Eagle Ridge Christian in a tournament on Friday. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, they are taking a road trip to square off against Holcomb at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
