The Pike County Bulldogs will take on the Autauga Academy Generals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Pike County turned things around against New Brockton on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Gamecocks 6-5. The game snapped a strange streak: the last three times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Taylor Trawick made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Autauga Academy waltzed into their game on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Generals, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Destinee Carroll and Madison Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Carroll scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Johnson scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Lynzie Burgin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Autauga Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matches.
Autauga Academy pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Pike County, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-17.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pike County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Autauga Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pike County couldn't quite finish off Autauga Academy in their previous matchup back in February and fell 7-5. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
