Softball Recap: Ida B. Wells Victorious

Ida B. Wells can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They skirted past the Franklin Lightning 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Guardians have posted since April 8th.

Ella Greenman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Ida B. Wells got a massive performance out of Sam Stevens, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs Stevens has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Hayden Miramontes, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one triple.

Ida B. Wells' win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Franklin, their record is now 7-14.

Looking ahead, Ida B. Wells will head out to face off against Roosevelt at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Guardians are facing the Roughriders at the right time seeing as the Roughriders are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Franklin, they will host McDaniel at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lightning's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mountain Lions have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
