Preview: Lake Country Christian Eagles vs. Pantego Christian Panthers
Lake Country Christian and Pantego Christian are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Lake Country Christian Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Pantego Christian Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Country Christian is hoping to put an end to a 14-game streak of away losses.
Lake Country Christian suffered their biggest defeat since December 16, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 72-48 defeat at the hands of Covenant Christian. Lake Country Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-16.
Meanwhile, Pantego Christian came up short against Red River on Tuesday and fell 46-34.
Tristan Brown put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Jackson, who scored seven points along with five assists and two steals.
Even though they lost, Pantego Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Red River only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Lake Country Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 16 of their last 17 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-24 record this season. As for Pantego Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 14-13.
Lake Country Christian opened the new year with a less-than-successful 81-74 defeat to Pantego Christian. Can Lake Country Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
