Volleyball Game Preview: Shawnee Mission West Vikings vs. Lawrence Lions

Shawnee Mission West is 1-8 against Lawrence since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Lions at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

The home team had come away the winner the last six times Shawnee Mission West and Olathe East had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Vikings took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks on Thursday.

Shawnee Mission West was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Olathe East work for it, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-11, 14-25, 26-24, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Lawrence also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Shawnee Mission East by a score of 2-0. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Lancers: they've now lost four in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-9.

Lawrence's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17-1. As for Shawnee Mission West, their loss dropped their record down to 3-18-2.

Shawnee Mission West suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Lawrence in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
