Softball Recap: Ten Straight Home Wins for St. Raphael Academy

St. Raphael Academy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They never let the Scituate Spartans get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Isabella Sousa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Sophie Roman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Noelle Welch was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

St. Raphael Academy pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Scituate, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

As of now, neither St. Raphael Academy nor Scituate have any future games scheduled.
