Baseball Recap: Westminster Christian Comes Up Short

Westminster Christian was the 5-0 winner over Key West when they last played one another on Friday, but their luck changed this time around. The Westminster Christian Warriors fell just short of the Key West Conchs by a score of 6-5 on Saturday.

Westminster Christian got a good showing from Billy Comber, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Comber has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Ray Lopez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Lucas Argudin, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one run.

Westminster Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5-1 record this season. Key West's record is now 6-3.

Coming up, Westminster Christian will be playing at home against Southridge at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southridge will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Westminster Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Key West, they have already played their next matchup, a 6-4 victory against Spanish River on the 8th.
