Baseball Recap: Bishop Ireton's Win Ends 12-Game Losing Streak at Home

Bishop Ireton took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Bishop McNamara, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cardinals' pitcher stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 2-0 shutout on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cardinals have posted against the Mustangs since May 2, 2022.

The result came thanks to Cash Griffy's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bishop Ireton is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-20-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Antonio, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wesley Hodges, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Bishop Ireton's victory ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-21-1. As for Bishop McNamara, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.
