Basketball Recap: Hardaway Hawks vs. Shaw Raiders
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Westover, the Hardaway Hawks were happy to have found some success on Friday. They took down Shaw 77-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Mekhi Benton was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with six assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lamell Mims, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Hardaway's win bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Shaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.
Hardaway won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Bearcats at 4:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Bainbridge is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Shaw, they will head out on the road to take on the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westover presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Raiders in Georgia (the Patriots are ranked 108th, while the Raiders are ranked 265th).
