Volleyball Recap: Somerset Academy's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

There's no place like home for Somerset Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Hialeah Educational Academy Biggie on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Somerset Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-21, 27-25, 25-23.

Somerset Academy was led to victory by Daniel Bayona and Adriel Perez. Bayona had six aces, while Perez had four aces. Those six aces gave Bayona a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Somerset Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive games.

Somerset Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Hialeah Educational Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Somerset Academy and Hialeah Educational Academy will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time Somerset Academy sees the court they'll take on North Broward Prep at 4:00 p.m. on April 1. As for Hialeah Educational Academy, their break will end when they face Mater Academy Charter at 5:00 p.m. on April 2.
