Basketball Recap: Mitchell County Comes Up Short

Mitchell County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-45 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pelham Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, with their most recent loss being a 53-49 defeat back in January.

Pelham's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was De'Asiayah Johnson, who posted 18 points and three steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Akaya Pollard was another key player, putting up seven points.

Mitchell County's loss dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Pelham, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-9.

Mitchell County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pelham, they have already played their next contest, a 39-32 victory against Terrell County on the 12th.
