Baseball Recap: Hickory Grove Christian Takes a Loss

Hickory Grove Christian managed to slip by Sun Valley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Lions lost 11-1 to the Spartans on Monday. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Hickory Grove Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Dowdy, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Dowdy has hit this season.

Hickory Grove Christian's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Sun Valley, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hickory Grove Christian will head out to challenge Gaston Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Sun Valley, they are taking a road trip to face off against Ballantyne Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
