Softball Recap: Escondido Charter Wins Going Away Against Steele Canyon

After only two runs in their last match, Escondido Charter made sure to put some runs up on the board against Steele Canyon on Tuesday. The Escondido Charter Tigers were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over the Steele Canyon Cougars.

Escondido Charter let Natalya Powers and Zaliyah Jones run wild. Powers scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Jones went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most runs Powers has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rose Gomez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Escondido Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Steele Canyon only posted a batting average of .167.

Escondido Charter now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Steele Canyon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Escondido Charter will take on Mt. Carmel in a tournament on Wednesday. As for Steele Canyon, they will be taking part in a tournament against Clairemont at 3:30 p.m. on March 13th. Steele Canyon has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
