Volleyball Game Preview: Basic Wolves vs. Green Valley Gators

The Basic Wolves will head out to challenge the Green Valley Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Green Valley took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Basic, who comes in off a win.

Basic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Foothill, who was ranked sixth at the time (Basic was ranked fifth). The Wolves won by a set and slipped past the Falcons 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.

Basic was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (107-103), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-23, 24-26, 14-25, 15-10.

Meanwhile, Green Valley came up short against Shadow Ridge on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Gators have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-19, 25-14.

Green Valley now has a losing record of 15-16. As for Basic, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.

Basic got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Green Valley by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
