Keyan Lundvall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Tommy Feldhake was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Derek Gordon, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Golden beat Brighton 6-3 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Demons.
Like Castle View, Golden also got a great game from a two-way player: Brody McBroom. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. McBroom has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two triples and four RBI.
McBroom wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Romero, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Castle View's record is now 5-1. As for Golden, their record is now 4-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Castle View has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Golden struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
