The Somerset Academy Key Lions will take on the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Somerset Academy Key is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since November 21st on Saturday. They came up short against Doral Academy, falling 67-43. The matchup marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Archbishop McCarthy's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 60-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Reagan. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Bison are ranked 35th).

Archbishop McCarthy's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3. As for Somerset Academy Key, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
