Softball Game Preview: Boiling Springs Bubblers vs. James Buchanan Rockets

Boiling Springs is 2-8 against James Buchanan since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bubblers will head out to challenge the Rockets at 4:15 p.m. Boiling Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Boiling Springs took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Shippensburg, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bubblers had just enough and edged out the Greyhounds 6-5 on Thursday.

Delaney Lawyer made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Lawyer was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Lawyer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Gabrielle Vonstein was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, James Buchanan came up short against Big Spring on Thursday, falling 18-2. The Rockets haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Boiling Springs pushed their record up to 9-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for James Buchanan, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Boiling Springs couldn't quite get it done against James Buchanan in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 8-5. Can the Bubblers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
