Golden falls despite strong effort from Alex Erger

Recap: Golden Demons vs. Dakota Ridge Eagles

After a string of three wins, the Golden Demons's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dakota Ridge. Golden lost against Dakota Ridge in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 83-51 score last time.

Despite the loss, Golden still got an impressive performance from Alex Erger, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shad Garnett, who scored seven points along with two steals.

Ethan Berninger continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dakota Ridge, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alijah Sawyer, who scored nine points.

Golden's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Dakota Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Golden will be playing in front of their home fans against Littleton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Littleton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Golden is ranked 25th). As for Dakota Ridge, they will head out on the road to take on Conifer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Allowing an average of 52 points per game, Conifer has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this matchup.
