Baseball Recap: Manual Beats Denver West for Their Third Straight Victory

Manual entered their tilt with Denver West on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Cowboys 18-2. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 19-7 win last Saturday.

Alan Whatley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Manual is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Whatley was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Edgar Salas was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Manual's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 9-2 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Jesus Marquez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Manual's record now sits at 12-7. As for Denver West, they are on a 41-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-21.
