Preview: Elite Prep Academy Eagles vs. Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks
The Elite Prep Academy Eagles's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Elite Prep Academy got the win against Eastland Christian by a conclusive 49-27.
Jahmani Salomon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. He set a new season high mark in steals with five. Another player making a difference was Deontae Givens-West, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone Charter Academy waltzed into their contest Wednesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They really took it to Varsity Opponent for the full four quarters, racking up a 102-15 win at home. Cornerstone Charter Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Cornerstone Charter Academy found their leader in underclassman Aaron Wood, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 assists. That's the first time this season that Wood scored 15 or more points. Alexander Conde was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Elite Prep Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Fans should be in for an exciting game on Tuesday as the pair are among the highest scoring teams in the league right now. Elite Prep Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 54.1 points per game. However, it's not like Cornerstone Charter Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 64.5 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Elite Prep Academy came up short against Cornerstone Charter Academy in their previous matchup back in January, falling 50-40. Can Elite Prep Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
