Basketball Recap: Springport Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Dallas Higelmire and Gibson Overweg

Springport lost against Tecumseh back in January of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Springport Spartans fell 58-47 to the Tecumseh Indians.

Gibson Overweg and Dallas Higelmire certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Overweg dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Higelmire posted ten points and three steals. Those 13 points gave Overweg a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Springport smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Springport's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Tecumseh, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Springport didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-51 win against Leslie on the 26th. As for Tecumseh, they have also already played their next contest, a 66-33 loss against Milan on the 24th.
