Basketball Recap: Gladstone's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

After a string of nine wins, Gladstone's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. The match between the Gladstone Braves and the Negaunee Miners didn't end well, with the Gladstone Braves falling 58-44. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Miners are ranked tenth).

Despite the loss, Gladstone still got an impressive performance from Lillie Johnson, who dropped a double-double with 29 points and 16 rebounds. The contest was Johnson's seventh in a row with at least 19 points. Tiahna Reynolds was another key player, putting up six points.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 20-2. As for Negaunee, the win keeps them at an undefeated 21-0.

Gladstone wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-36 victory against Houghton on the 6th. As for Negaunee, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-33 win against Escanaba on the 6th.
