Softball Recap: Highlands Has No Trouble Against Seton

Highlands got themselves on the board against Seton on Thursday, but Seton never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Saints with a sharp 7-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bluebirds.

Kaitlyn Dixon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Payton Brown and Kate Class did most of the damage at the plate: Brown scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Class went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Class a new career-high. Cam Markus was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Highlands' win bumped their record up to 9-5-1. As for Seton, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highlands will welcome Boyle County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Seton, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against St. Ursula Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
