Basketball Recap: Lincoln Takes a Loss

Lincoln easily dispatched Maclay last Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Lincoln Trojans fell just short of the North Florida Educational Institute Fighting Eagles by a score of 42-39 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Fighting Eagles are ranked 48th).

Despite the loss, Lincoln still got an impressive performance from Jamiya Brown, who went 6 of 15 en route to 23 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The contest was Brown's 18th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nala Copeland, who posted two points and 16 boards.

Even though they lost, Lincoln smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Lincoln's record now sits at 14-8. As for North Florida Educational Institute, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-12.

Lincoln will host Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season. North Florida Educational Institute has already played their next game (against Covenant School of Jacksonville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
