Kingman Academy entered their tilt with Northland Prep Academy on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took down the Northland Prep Academy Spartans 43-27. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Spartans are ranked 267th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the defeat, Northland Prep Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ellysia Martinez almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for Martinez. Another player making a difference was Bethany Blair, who posted five points and three steals.

Kingman Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Northland Prep Academy, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Kingman Academy Tigers challenge the Chino Valley Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Northland Prep Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-21 defeat against Round Valley on the 25th.
