Baseball Recap: Clinton Prairie Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

There's no place like home for Clinton Prairie, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They never let the Benton Central Bison get on the board and left with a 23-0 win on Monday. The contest marked the Gophers' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Jackson Price made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those hits were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Alex King and Malachi Corbin did most of the damage at the plate: King went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Corbin scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Corbin a new career-high. Kyle Harshbarger was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases.

Clinton Prairie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Benton Central only posted an OBP of .118.

Clinton Prairie pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Benton Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Clinton Prairie will challenge Danville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Benton Central, they will head out to square off against Lafayette Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Bison's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
