Aptos will challenge St. Monica at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Aptos' victory against San Lorenzo Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mariners narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Cougars 3-1.
Alec Mendoza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dom Castillo was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Aptos hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Lorenzo Valley struck out nine times.
The scorekeeper got an easy start last Tuesday as neither St. Monica nor Milken made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Mariners never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mariners.
Finley Crosby made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Crosby was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. St. Monica is undefeated when Crosby posts two or more runs, but 4-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, Joey Parra was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Edvin Samayoa, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
St. Monica pushed their record up to 8-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Aptos, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.
