Baseball Recap: Oneida Indians vs. Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders

Oneida was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, with their most recent defeat being a 5-4 loss on Thursday.

Carter Daugherty was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Oneida's defeat dropped their record down to 8-19. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, they now have a winning record of 17-16.
