Softball Game Preview: Rossville Hornets vs. Twin Lakes Indians

The Rossville Hornets will face off against the Twin Lakes Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Rossville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.4 runs per game this season.

Rossville is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since June 7, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Carroll.

Rossville's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Addi Gorbett, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Twin Lakes came up short against West Lafayette on Wednesday and fell 7-4. The loss continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Red Devils: they've now lost six in a row.

Kendra Hughes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI. Miya Clerget also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Rossville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Twin Lakes, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.

Twin Lakes' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rossville has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Twin Lakes, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Rossville's sizable advantage in that area, the Indians will need to find a way to close that gap.
