Basketball Recap: Chico Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Chico entered their tilt with Yuba City on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 49-46 win from a begrudging Panthers squad. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while the Honkers are ranked 822nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Davis Parent was the offensive standout of the matchup as he went 6 for 11 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds. Magnus Nielsen was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

Chico smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Several Honkers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alex Saavedra, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sukhjeet Sihota, who put up nine points.

Chico's record now sits at 7-5. As for Yuba City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Chico didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-43 victory against Marysville on the 20th. As for Yuba City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 79-62 defeat against Cosumnes Oaks on the 20th.
