Basketball Recap: Kingsley Donaldson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Union Pines over Pinecrest

Union Pines fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Pinecrest on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 71-57 bruising from the Pinecrest Patriots. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 61-60.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kingsley Donaldson, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals. Another player making a difference was Aiden Leonard, who posted 15 points.

Union Pines' loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Pinecrest, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Union Pines does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pinecrest, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 71-61 defeat against Richmond on the 18th.
