Baseball Game Preview: Maclay Marauders vs. Riverdale Warriors

The Maclay Marauders will take on the Riverdale Warriors at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Maclay has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Maclay will bounce into Friday's match after beating North Florida Christian, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Maclay had just enough and edged out North Florida Christian 4-2. That's two games straight that the Marauders have won by exactly two runs.

Ben Wagnon and Noah Chavez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Wagnon tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Chavez struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Wagnon scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Chavez scored a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Henry Richardson was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, Riverdale didn't have quite enough to beat Mosley on Thursday and fell 7-6.

Maclay's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Riverdale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
