Basketball Recap: Mason Grier's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Northwestern over Clover

Northwestern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 55-40 to the Clover Blue Eagles. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Eagles earlier this season, when they won 64-63.

Northwestern lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mason Grier, who posted four points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan McKinnon, who had 11 points and five rebounds.

Clover was led to victory by Ashtin Feemster and Owen Galeota. Feemster earned 13 points, while Galeota went 5 for 6 en route to 14 points. Those 13 points gave Feemster a new career-high. Carson Pinti was another key player, putting up four points and four steals.

Northwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Clover, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Northwestern wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-36 loss against Fort Mill on the 4th. As for Clover, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-42 defeat against Indian Land on the 7th.
