Baseball Recap: Angola Takes Down Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Angola rose to the challenge on Thursday. They never let the Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran Cadets get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. This was a revenge game for the Hornets: when they faced off against the Cadets on May 9th, they had to take a 8-2 loss.

Not much got past Brady Warren, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran off the board. Warren also tossed no walks, which is notable because Angola is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 9-13 otherwise.

At the plate, Angola's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Myles Steury, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Angola and bumps their season record up to 11-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-12.

Coming up, Angola will face off against Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Saints' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
