Basketball Recap: Patton Panthers vs. Polk County Wolverines
Patton lost against Polk County back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Patton Panthers were outmatched by the Polk County Wolverines and fell 47-18. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 488th, while the Wolverines are ranked 76th).
Polk County had a senior duo take command as Kylie Lewis almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds and Kiera Littlejohn went 5 for 9 on her way to 12 points in addition to eight boards and four blocks. Littlejohn has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Bradley, who posted nine points and three steals.
Patton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Polk County, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-1.
Patton will venture away from home to square off against Lincolnton at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Lincolnton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Polk County, they will face off against Hendersonville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hendersonville will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Polk County surely won't give up without a fight.
