Softball Recap: Green Hope Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Apex, Green Hope was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cary Imps, sneaking past 9-7. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Imps recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Rachael Baldyga made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ainsley Campbell, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Alice Tomberlin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Green Hope's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Cary, their defeat was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-19.

As of now, neither Green Hope nor the Imps have any future games scheduled.
