Softball Game Preview: Diamond Ranch Panthers vs. Chino Cowboys

The Diamond Ranch Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Chino Cowboys at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Diamond Ranch made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Montclair, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Diamond Ranch was the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over Montclair on Wednesday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by nine runs or more this season.

Izel Avalos and Natalie Macias made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Avalos tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Macias didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. At the plate, Avalos scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4, while Macias went 1-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. Avalos is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rayanna Quintanar, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5. Khloe Malcolm also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Diamond Ranch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montclair only posted a batting average of .200.

Meanwhile, Chino got the win against Ontario on Wednesday by a conclusive 12-2. The victory continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won four in a row.

Diamond Ranch moved to 5-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Chino, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Diamond Ranch was able to grind out a solid win over Chino in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Diamond Ranch since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
