Basketball Recap: Tucker Wiginton Key Part of Team Effort in Spartans Win

Springport proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 39) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 win over the Parchment Panthers. The score was all tied up 22-22 at the break, but the Spartans were the better team in the second half.

Springport's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tucker Wiginton, who posted 11 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Baum, who put up nine points and six boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Springport was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Springport's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Parchment, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springport will venture away from home to take on Marshall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Parchment, they will head out to challenge Constantine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Panthers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
