Edinburg waltzed into their contest on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They had just enough and edged the Edinburg North Cougars out 56-54. The Bobcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougars, too.

Edinburg found their leader in sophomore Yuri Perez, who posted 19 points and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gizelle Hernandez, who put up ten points and three steals.

Edinburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 13 consecutive games.

Edinburg North lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Josselyn Quintanilla, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 boards. Quintanilla is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. Yaneth Salinas was another key player, going 5 for 12 en route to 19 points and five assists.

Edinburg's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-12. As for Edinburg North, their loss dropped their record down to 11-19.

Edinburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 60-28 victory against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo on the 20th. Edinburg North has also already played their next contest, a 39-27 win against Economedes on the 20th.
