Basketball Recap: Foothill Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

If Foothill was feeling good fresh off their 76-43 takedown of Valley last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Foothill Mustangs took a 67-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Campus Warriors on Monday. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Foothill lost, don't look at Tomari Harris. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points in addition to eight steals and five rebounds. Those eight steals gave Harris a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joshua Landi, who had 14 points.

Even though they lost, Foothill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive matches.

Zach Villanueva was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-7 from deep and dropping a double-double on 31 points and 12 assists for West Campus. Villanueva continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Edmund Michalski was another key player, putting up 15 points and five boards.

Foothill's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-9. As for West Campus, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-9.

Foothill has already played their next contest (against Burbank), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. West Campus has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Fairfield.
