Preview: Prince Avenue Christian Wolverines vs. Jasper County Hurricanes
The Prince Avenue Christian Wolverines will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Jasper County Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Jasper County took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Prince Avenue Christian, who comes in off a win.
Prince Avenue Christian put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 49-0 win over Oglethorpe County. Given Prince Avenue Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Oglethorpe County is ranked 335th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aaron Philo was on fire: he threw for 388 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Hudson Hill did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 109 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Jasper County unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Social Circle by a score of 23-21.
Despite the defeat, Jasper County had strong showings from Josiah Cotterell, who picked up 135 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Chevy Sands, who threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Cotterell's longest reception was for an incredible 76 yards.
Prince Avenue Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Jasper County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Everything came up roses for Prince Avenue Christian against Jasper County in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 62-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Prince Avenue Christian since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
