Franklin Pierce waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Washington Patriots with a sharp 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Lucas Larson was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Elijah Sledge was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Franklin Pierce's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Washington, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.
