Sam Markowitz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. He has become a key player for Boothbay: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 2-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Maddox Cusumano, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Dirigo hadn't done well against Oak Hill recently (they were 1-7-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Raiders 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted against the Raiders since May 19, 2017.
Trevor Crosby made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Crosby was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
Crosby wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Leighton Waite, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
The win got Dirigo back to even at 6-6. As for Boothbay, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
