Softball Game Preview: Highlands Christian Knights vs. Berean Christian Bulldogs

The Highlands Christian Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Berean Christian Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Highlands Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Highlands Christian wound up with the same score they had in their last game (24-23), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Samantha Hopkins stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs and stole Seven bases. while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Madison Brickman, who scored three runs and stole Seven bases. while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Highlands Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Berean Christian's undefeated season came to an end after four games on Tuesday. They lost 18-3 to Leonard. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Lillian Severson was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. Severson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Berean Christian fell to 4-1. As for Highlands Christian, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Highlands Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Berean Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Highlands Christian suffered a grim 24-8 defeat to Berean Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Highlands Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
