Olive Branch (Miss.) jumped out to an early lead against
Hernando (Miss.) and never looked back on the way to a 27-12 victory on Saturday.
The Conquistadors put up 14 points in the opening quarter. Olive Branch scored on a touchdown catch by
Center Pass and a punt return touchdown by Pass.
After taking the lead on a touchdown catch by Pass in the first quarter, OB was up 14-12 at the half.
The Conquistadors grew their lead to 15 points entering the fourth quarter. Olive Branch scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown catch by Pass.
OB entered the contest giving up 18.5 points per game this year. A defensively strong the Conquistadors kept the Tigers right around the 14.2 points it had been averaging per game.
The win was a nice bounce back for Olive Branch, which lost to Grenada last week, 12-7.
Olive Branch (7-4) goes up against Tupelo in a 6A Region 1 game matchup next week, while Hernando (3-7) locks horns with Grenada also in a 6A Region 1 game.
