Basketball Game Preview: Newmarket Mules vs. Sunapee Lakers

Newmarket and Sunapee are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Newmarket Mules will be playing at home against the Sunapee Lakers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Newmarket has six straight victories, Sunapee has 13 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Newmarket is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Hampshire's top teams: Franklin, who was ranked 11th at the time (Newmarket was ranked sixth). Newmarket strolled past Franklin with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 39-24.

Meanwhile, Sunapee scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell to Pittsfield 37-31.

Newmarket pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.2 points per game. As for Sunapee, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything came up roses for Newmarket against Sunapee when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 40-13 victory. Will Newmarket repeat their success, or does Sunapee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
