Basketball Recap: Copper Basin's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Copper Basin came into Monday's matchup having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victor by a 57-34 margin over the Whitwell Tigers on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Cougars have posted since November 18, 2024.

Copper Basin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carder Lance out in front who went 5 for 12 en route to 25 points and five rebounds. Those 25 points gave Lance a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Talon Smith, who posted 15 points and three steals.

Copper Basin's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-11. As for Whitwell, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Copper Basin will welcome Hiwassee Dam at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Whitwell, they will venture away from home to square off against Dalton Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Whitwell is facing Dalton Academy at the right time seeing as Dalton Academy is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
