Softball Recap: East Jackson Comes Up Short

East Jackson had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 3-13 to make it six. They lost 13-3 to the Napoleon Pirates. That's two games in a row now that the Trojans have lost by exactly ten runs.

East Jackson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Khloee Gettings, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

As for Napoleon, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9. They haven't had any issues with East Jackson recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

On Napoleon's side, Kaitlyn Fall spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. Fall has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hayden Rendall was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Molly Simpson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Jackson will head out to face off against North Adams-Jerome at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Napoleon, they will venture away from home to challenge Dundee at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
