Baseball Recap: El Capitan Victorious

El Capitan won against Enochs on Friday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The El Capitan Gauchos' pitchers stepped up to hand the Placer Hillmen a 4-0 shutout. The Gauchos haven't had any issues with the Hillmen recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Fabian Sotelo tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cooper Gaoiran, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. Gaoiran is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stole at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Noah Ruiz, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

El Capitan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Placer only posted a batting average of .130.

The win got El Capitan back to even at 2-2.

Coming up, El Capitan will be playing in front of their home fans against Gregori at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. El Capitan's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Gregori's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Placer, they will take on Enochs in a tournament on Friday.
