Basketball Recap: Lake Central Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lake Central had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against the Michigan City Wolves by a score of 34-24. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Wolves are ranked 324th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lake Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Szany led the charge by putting up seven points. Those seven points gave Szany a new career-high. Jillian Beaderstadt was another key player, earning four points and 15 rebounds.

Lake Central's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Michigan City, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Lake Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-37 loss against Plainwell on the 13th. As for Michigan City, they will be home for the holidays to greet Kankakee Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
